Archery Safe Participant/Trained Participant Workshop

Day 2 - Building Archery Coaching Skills

  • Coaching youth in aiming, shooting, string walking.
  • Shooting groups, aiming off, what to do in wind. 
  • Fixing simple archer problems.
  • Setting & Tying nocking points.
  • Fixing more advanced archer problems. 
  • Checking gear before use. Looking after gear. Keeping a gear log if you own archery equipment
  • Keeping an archers diary and log book.
  • Archery Practice and some coaching practice where participants coach each other in correcting problems.
  • Walk through range setup for Come and Try Archery sessions (which is basically what Scouts do at Scout Events – large numbers, basic safety, hit the target, pull the arrows, move on to next activity).
  • Hazard identification, risk assessment and lesson/management plans for an event archery session.
