This is a 2-hour canoeing activity for novice/beginner paddlers who are Scouts in the Hills District. To participate in this activity you do not need any canoeing experience but you MUST be able to swim 50m confidently.
The activity is a fun introductory paddle on Lake Parramatta. We'll fit everyone's life jackets and learn a few paddle strokes then head out onto the water for a short journey and some ball games.
The activity will be supervised by Leaders and Rovers (Scouts aged 18-25).
PLEASE BRING:
- Water bottle
- Sunscreen
- Hat
- Towel
- Change of dry clothes
- Rain jacket if forecast to rain
DO NOT bring any valuables as we will leave bags behind on the shore to keep them dry.
PLEASE WEAR:
- Enclosed shoes that can get wet
- Swimmers with board shorts and a rash shirt OR long, light, quick dry clothing (e.g., a fishing shirt)
- Hat and sunglasses
Please arrive from 1:30pm and check in with Phoebe. The activity will start at 2pm but we will spend this first half hour putting on sunscreen and carrying the canoes down to the water. Parking may be difficult as the lake gets very busy on weekends so you may need to park on the street and then walk down Illawong Dr.
