Advanced Canyoning - TP & White Water Skills Workshop

This Advanced Workshop will focus on covering the Advanced Canyoning Specific aspects of the TP module, as well as White Water skills required to operate safely as a participant or assistant in Advanced Canyons. There may also be some opportunities for some advanced participants to work on the Advanced Canyoning Lead Unit.

The workshop will be running on the mid-North Coast in the Coffs/Dorrigo area. With exact location and pricing TBC. 

Prerequisites

This an advanced area, participants must meet the following critieria to register:

• Have attended at least one Canyoning TP Weekend
• Have canyoned on at least 4 ocassions, 5 - 6 recomened. (If you don't meet this criteria check out our Canyon Adventure Weekends!) - or by approval from Harry.
• Able to self belay on a VT
• Have attended all aspects of a Rigging and Rescue Weekend

For those working towards Advanced Canyoning Guide you will also need to do the Complex Vertical Rescue Course (which only runs once a year). 

Possible Canyons Include

This course will focus on skills - so we're not aiming to bag canyons, but the following canyons are likely to  be used.

• Rosewood
• Endiandra Canyon
• Bangalore Canyon
• Urumbilum Canyon

(And other Northern NSW Canyons)

Camping

Exact location TBC, and there may be a small camping fee. 

You will need to bring your own Tent & Sleeping Gear and the event will be self catered.

We will like to return to Sydney quite late on Monday evening.

Equipment

Please refer to the gear list on the Sydeny North Region Scouts Canyoning Page and for advanced canyons you will also need a rescue knife on your harness. You will also need mechanical ascenders for this course.

It is critical that you bring a pack suitable to carry 50m ropes, a rain coat and a good whistle

In Addition to the gear list- you must have a rescue knife on your harness, and a good pack that can hold a 60m rope as well as you gear - preferably one that can drain easily.
