Transport

Persons requiring bus transport

At this point in time we have not arranged any bus transport. If, after car pooling arrangments have been made we have a number of participants who need transport we will make arrangments to hire a bus. This will be at an additional cost to the school fee.

Persons not requiring bus transport

Make your own way to the snow and car pool where possible. You will be responsible for your own transport costs and a possible contribution to park entry fees.

Activity Venues

Perisher Ski Resort

Persons wanting to participate in down hill skiing at Perisher Resort will be responsible for their own Lift tickets, Ski Instruction and Ski hire. If under 18 you will need to be accompanied by your own supervising Leader or Adult.

Perisher Cross Country Ski Trails

Persons wanting to participate in Cross country skiing at the Perisher cross country ski trails will be accompanied by Scouts NSW appointed Guides.

This will be a great opportunity to learn snowcraft, XC ski and Snow shoe skills. Our Guides have had experience in the Antarctic and Arctic environments and have a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Ski Hire

We have arranged an extremely good discount at Rhythm sports in Cooma for the school. Approx $75 for hire of  Cross Country boots, stocks and Skis (NNN BC) or snow shoes for the seven days. Participants will be responsible for paying for their own XC ski or snow shoe hire (Ski Hire IS NOT included in the course price). Please note that this discount is not available to Scouts outside of the State Alpine School. We will book / reserve (but not pay) for you your XC skis and snow shoes through Rythm.

Persons wishing to hire downhill skis or tobogans can do so through your own means and outside of above mentioned arrangement.

LOG Book

You will need to upload a log book during the registeration process. We need this in order to gauge your experience and so place you in a patrol with people with similar skills. We are mostly interested in your bushwalking and Alpine history. Uploading a log book can be done by any of the below methods.

  1. Using the template provoded in the attached documents on this page.
  2. Taking a screen shot from scouts terrain.
  3. Using your existing log book template you have.

Any way you can attach your bushwalking and Alpine history during registeration.
