Additional Information

Postponed - apologies for inconvenience.

This three-night chillout camp is open to all Venturer Scouts in the Iron Cove District. We’ll aim to develop skills in canoeing, abseiling, and more - or just chill out! It’s a no-obligations camp to cure post-Jamboree gloom or just get to know Venturer Scouts from the District.

We’ll camp at the Girl Guide site in Noorumba, on the Woronora River. The cost payable online via Scout Event is $25 for use of this site and the canoes at Bindaree Water Activities Centre. An Opal card will also be required for the train journeys to and from Loftus / Sutherland Station. Please ensure you bring your Concession Entitlement if you have one.

We will also have the possibility to visit the local RSL for dinner one night (menu and pricing can be found here), and to visit the Sydney Tramway Museum on Sunday for a ride on an original Sydney tram through the Royal National Park to the old Scout Jamboree station, plus a look at restored trams from around the world. The cost for the Museum is $10 for school-enrolled youth members and $20 for adults. For both of these opportunities, please bring cash, in case you will choose to participate.

We will meet at Sydney Town Hall, between the steps and the tram line, at no later than 10:45 on Friday morning, for the T4 to Sutherland Station.

Please bring your own tents, food, and cooking equipment. If you’re coming with other Venturer Scouts from your Unit, this is easier. Food suggestions and a packing list are available as downloads from the Scout Event page for this activity. Note that the packing list has required items, so please ensure you have these.

You must have bottles for water. We will be able to refill water at the campsite, but please ensure you have a sufficient amount for canoeing before we arrive at the campsite.

The activity will be attended and directly supervised by Stephen Doggett (0406628040) and Janice Oliver (0403747156), and the emergency contact is Mark Bartter (0424081387). Direct supervision means that the leading Venturer Scouts are qualified and responsible for the group, and an Adult Leader is with the group during any Adventurous Activities as required.

There is a limit of 17 people for this camp. If you are planning to attend with a group from your Unit, but there are not enough places, please let us know, and we will attempt to work around this.

If you have any questions, please press “Ask a Question” on Scout Event or ask on the Iron Cove District Venturer Scouts WhatsApp group. Alternatively, you can email theo@starmail.au.
