Future Ready: Inspiring Leaders to Think and Look Wide (A course for Sydney North Venturers) 

(This course, including online work and the in-person session, is equivalent to a two-day course.) 

Pre-Course Work:  

Before attending the Future Ready Leadership Course, participants must complete the precourse work included in the Workbook, session items will be completed during the course. Please print this and bring to the course and mark off precoursework.

Please ensure that you watch all of the required videos and complete the online pre-coursework. Precoursework available on training.scouts.com.au when complete will produce a certificate, please download a copy.

This course is particularly relevant for Venturers working towards Milestone 3 and progressing towards their Peak Award. 

Please collate all completed certificates from training.scouts.com.au and send them in one email to Michelle Dalmaris michelle.dalmaris@nsw.scouts.com.au, with your Venturer Leader CC’d, before attending the course.

Ensure all required certificates are attached in a single email to streamline the submission process this is to show that you have completed the pre-coursework.

Dr Ken Dovey will be giving the Keynote for the event and will be hosting a session. 

Bring a water bottle, mess kit, tea towel, sunscreen, and a hat. Ensure you wear full Venturer uniform, including a scarf, hat, and closed shoes. 

About the Course

The Future Ready Leadership Course is an immersive, hands-on experience designed for Venturers to develop practical leadership skills while working towards the Certificate II in Active Volunteering. This one-day intensive program focuses on leadership as a collective achievement, where teamwork, trust, empathy, and accountability form the foundation of effective leadership. Inspired by Ken Dovey’s leadership principles and Simon Sinek’s Start with Why, the course challenges participants to explore their leadership potential through engaging activities, structured reflections, and real-world applications. 

Through interactive scenario-based learning, team challenges, and reflection exercises, Venturers will develop essential leadership qualities such as communication, conflict resolution, decision-making, and strategic thinking. Each session is mapped to the relevant Certificate II competency, ensuring that participants not only enhance their leadership capabilities but also starting to work towards a nationally recognized qualification.
